IPL Packaging 2024 Progress Update

As IPL Packaging navigates through 2024, we take a moment to reflect on what has proven a year of strategic growth, sustainability and continued innovation; one where each milestone – from pioneering packaging solutions to expanding our team and global reach – reinforces our vision for the future and sets the stage for the final months ahead.

This report highlights IPL’s various key activities over the past months.

IPL Design: A New Chapter

This year has seen IPL Design evolve into a distinct entity within the IPL Group, now showcased on its dedicated website, iplpackagingdesign.com. This strategic move underscores our commitment to innovation and allows IPL Design to focus exclusively on delivering world-class packaging designs.

With a leading-edge design team that collaborates directly with passionate brand owners and supports agencies, IPL Design crafts best-in-class luxury and premium packaging. Operating as separate divisions enables us to further hone and optimise our operations, enabling both IPL Packaging and IPL Design to deliver increasingly tailored and efficient solutions for our B2B clients.

Celebrating Packaging Innovation

This year, IPL Packaging is proud to have been announced as a Quality Finalist in the UK Packaging Awards 2024, recognised across all three submissions. These include ‘Best Packaging of a New Product’ for The Glen Grant 25 YO, and two nominations for ‘Limited Edition of the Year’ with Echlinville – The Beginning and Rosebank – The Revival Chapter 1.

A further glimpse at our wide-ranging capabilities include the development of Crystal Head Vodka’s Lunar 2025 Edition, taking the project from concept to manufacturing with a custom-designed lunar gift pack for the Year of the Snake.

In addition, our second bespoke design for Eagle Rare 25 YO Bourbon reinforces our ability to deliver exclusive, tailored packaging solutions.

Finally, IPL made its Hollywood debut with Sugarfina’s Limited Edition Hollywood Tasting Collection, proving that packaging can shine just as brightly as the stars on the red carpet.

Advancing Sustainability

This year, we’ve continued to introduce further eco-friendly material alternatives across our product ranges, including our own Moriarty conceptual collection, which seeks to elevate rigid board boxes to the same luxury status as wooden counterparts.

The new materials we’re using, such as die-cut molded paper pulp, multi-layered paper-wrapped board, and multiple variations of compostable or biodegradable elements, reflect an ongoing commitment to reducing environmental impact.

Our sustainability efforts have also earned IPL Packaging Gold Certification from EcoVadis, placing us among the top global companies for sustainable practices.

Exciting Future Projects

We’re thrilled about upcoming projects that align with our focus on innovation and sustainability, including collaborations with leading brands in the watch and jewellery sectors.

In partnership with Lauren Watt, we’ve crafted a stunning range of bespoke jewellery containers – a series of elegant boxes that demonstrate our ongoing commitment to packaging solutions that combine artistry and functionality.

Additionally, IPL Design teamed up with renowned brand agency Lippincott Hong Kong to help create new packaging for Chow Tai Fook, a leading Chinese conglomerate best known for its luxury jewellery collections.

Embracing Technological Innovation

As we venture ever further into the ever-evolving landscape of luxury packaging, we stand at the intersection of tradition and innovation. Our 3D Visualising Team are embracing revolutionary software advancements and welcoming AI’s role in design, viewing it as invaluable in sparking new ideas and pushing the boundaries of creativity and efficiency in luxury packaging design.

While the influence of AI continues to shape our digital world, our personal commitment to excellence in design and manufacturability remains steadfast.

Strengthening our Team and Network

In 2024, we’ve expanded our sales team to enhance on-the-ground, personalised service and explore new markets. We’ve also strengthened our global supply and partner networks to ensure that we can deliver innovative solutions efficiently and reliably across the globe.

Celebrating 25 Years: Taking Packaging Personally

As we approach our 25th anniversary in 2025, we’re not just marking a milestone, we’re celebrating our core belief: ‘We take packaging personally.’

In preparation, this year we’ve begun a special collaboration with a chosen artist to create a unique, commemorative item. Together, as partners, we’ll immerse ourselves in the entire process, from design to production, experiencing it as our clients do.

The result will be something truly special, a celebration of our journey and all who’ve been a part of it. Stay tuned for what’s to come as we unveil more about this exciting project in the months ahead.
